Sustainability

The DGNB Gold certification of our conference and guest center is a seal of approval from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), which is awarded to particularly sustainable buildings. It evaluates a construction project using a holistic approach that takes into account not only energy efficiency, but also ecological, economic, sociocultural, and technical aspects, as well as the quality of the location.

The building uses the campus-wide district heating network and a large photovoltaic system on the roof for sustainable energy supply. The solar power generated covers part of its own needs and reduces overall CO₂ emissions.

The indoor climate is maintained by ecological air conditioning via concrete core activation through the ceilings: it cools in summer and heats in winter evenly and energy-efficiently, without the need for conventional air conditioning systems. This keeps the building at a comfortable temperature and environmentally friendly at the same time.
